Privacy statement

How we handle personal information on this website and in the course of our work.

Sterling Consultants Australia Pty Ltd ("Sterling", "we") is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This statement explains what we collect and why.

This website

These pages are static. We do not set cookies, we do not run analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not build a profile of your visit.

The enquiry form does not send anything to us directly. Submitting it opens a message in your own email application with the details you typed already filled in — nothing leaves your device unless you choose to send that email. If you do, we receive it the same way we would receive any other email from you.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which may include IP addresses and browser details, for security and reliability purposes.

What we collect when you contact us

If you email or call us we collect the information you give us — typically your name, organisation, email address, phone number and whatever you tell us about your situation. We use it to respond, to scope work, and to keep in touch about that enquiry. We do not sell it, and we do not add you to a marketing list you did not ask to join.

Client data during an engagement

Consulting work sometimes requires access to systems or data extracts that contain personal information about your customers, members, staff or clients. Where that happens:

  • We work in your environment wherever that is technically possible, so the data does not move.
  • Where extracts are necessary, the scope is agreed in writing before anything is transferred, and we work from the minimum viable sample.
  • Anything we host on your behalf is held in Australian regions unless you direct otherwise in writing.
  • Extracts are destroyed at engagement closeout, with written confirmation to you.
  • Access is limited to the people on your engagement.

In this work you remain the entity accountable to the individuals concerned; we act on your instructions. The specific terms are set out in the engagement agreement, which prevails over this page where the two differ.

Disclosure

We disclose personal information only where you have asked us to, where it is necessary to a service provider supporting our own operations (such as email and file storage) under equivalent obligations, or where we are required to by law.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@sterlingconsultants.au and we will respond within a reasonable period, and within 30 days at the outside.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy matter, tell us first so we have the chance to fix it. If you remain unsatisfied, you can refer the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

If we change how this site works — for example by adding analytics or a hosted form — we will update this page before that change goes live.
